Who doesn’t like to visit other countries? In my opinion a lot of people do.

Most of the time people like to visit different countries in order to know their cultures. That is my case. When I was fourteen years old, my family participated in an interesting program. Someone from another country came to our house and stayed a year. This person didn’t know anything about our culture. He also didn’t speak our language.

            He was from Belgium, a country located in Europe between France and Germany. The language he spoke was French. In his country life was very different than in my country. The food was different, the music and a lot of more things. He used to speak a lot about his country what made me want to visit it. My mother when to Belgium because she wanted to meet his parents. For her, it was such a great trip. His parents took her to Germany and everything was new for her.

             I always wanted to go but since I moved here, I don’t have the time or the money. It is a very expensive trip, even having someone there. I hope want they I can go and tell you guys my experience that I know is going to be very exciting.

                 I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In my country schools are a little bit different than in here. For example, one can do high school in the same school one did elementary school. That is such a great benefit in some cases. In my particular case, I like that because I could have the same friends since I started elementary school.

            Two of my two best friends have been my friends since we were kids. I know them for years. That is great because my mother knows their mothers very well. That is why we always could do funny things. For example, my friends could sleep over my house and stuff like that. I met my other friend, whose name is Gabriella, when I was 13 years old. We didn’t study at the same school because she was born in Brazil. Since I met her, I introduced her to my other two friends and we became best friends! We lived a lot of things together. Things that we all are going to remember for the rest of our lives and what make us real friends.

            Now I moved here and my friend Gaby move to her country Brazil and we are still good friends. We chat everyday and at least once a month we talk over the phone. We never miss each other because we all always together. Right now I am so happy because two of them are coming to visit me for the first time since I moved here and I am sure it is going to have fun!

          why are we still best friends if we do not live in the same country anymore. I moved and we do not talk like we used to talk. How often we talk. How is are relation after I moved.

Hi class!

I think homeshooling is a very interesting topic. I really would like to write about it. In my personal opinion, I am against homeschooling for many reasons. I would like you to see how my three body paragraphs are going to like like. Here are my three points:

 first paragraph: Is going to be very shocking for the kids when they go to a regular school.

second paragraph: homeshooling is boring for kids.

third paragraph: there is limited social interaction. This is probably going to be my strongest reason because for me it is the most important point.

I think that my second and third paragraph have very similar ideas but  at the same time I think that I could write some good differences. what do you thing??

Learning New Things

                When I first came to this country, a lot of things were new for me. One of my teacher was my little brother Humberto. He is now 15 years old.  When I came here, he was 13 years old but he was a really smart boy.

                I remember my first day in the United States. I was really tired because of the trip but my brother wanted me to listen to his music. I started listen his iPod and I couldn’t understand anything. At first I didn’t like that music that I rarely listen to in my country. It was call R&B and I really didn’t like it but my brother always listened to that. That is why it ended liking me.

                Another thing was football. In my country we call football what here is known as soccer. It was weard for me when I heard that word and it was not what i was thinking. After that, I started watching football. I wanted to know why those players were hiting each other. I didnt understand that game at all.

my brother is a real football fans. He is one of those people who get mad when his team is loosing.  Watching football was the only thing to do on weekends. when my family were not watching football, they were on my brother’s football game. I stayed home watching football and I want to all my brother’s games and guess what?? I  ended liking football!!

                  Now, I have my favorite football team. I am a giant’s fan!! I know about football and I can talk about it.

Should malls place restrictions on teenaged shoppers?

                 Malls are one of the famous places  people like visiting mostly during the weekends. Most people prefer visiting the mall than any other places because they can easily  go with the entire family,they also can shop, eat and relax at the same time.  Nowadays, malls have become in the favorite place for teenagers because they are one of the few places they can go without being ask for identifications. Malls, especially the stores don’t like teenagers by themselves because sometimes they can represent a problem for them. That is why  a lot of malls have made the decision of place restrictions on teenaged shoppers.  In my personal opinion, I agree with this. It’s a good idea to place restrictions on people under the age.

            The first reason is security. Teens shouldn’t be allowed to visit the mall without their parents or guardians after certains hours because it is not a secure place. Malls are open for everybody and sometimes shopping can result dangerous. For example, last year a bunch of people died while they were shopping in a mall. This action happened in omaha, nebraska when a subject came with a gun and killed 8 people, some other 30 resulted hurt. People never know what can happen during a shopping day in the mall. That is why teens should visit the mall with their parents because they can prevent problems by protecting them.

            The second reason is the waste of money. Sometimes teens are not mature enough to decide what is really important to buy and what not. That’s why they shouldn’t go shopping by themselves. They can buy whatever they like without matter if they need it or not. That can be a waste of money sometimes because the money their parents give them  to buy their needs, they use it to buy insignificant things. However, if teens are with their parents or guardians, they can’t buy anything they want. Parents are going to buy for them what they really need.

            The most important reason teens should have restrictions on malls is that most of the time they don’t really go shopping. A lot of teenagers find the mall as a place where they can hang out with their friends without supervision. These can make other shoppers feel uncomfortable. “Teens use to scream and even fight while they are outside the mall hanging out with their friends”, said Rose Luckwiski, sales associated of one of the store in Bloomington mall, Minnesota.  60% of teens get into fights or trouble when they go to the mall without an adult. These represent a big problem for malls and also for the  parents.  Malls immediately need to increase their security what represent more money to spend.

            Opponents say that mall should not place restrictions on tenneged shoppers because sometimes parents are working and don’t have time to take their teens to the mall and spend time shopping, that is why they prefer taking them to the mall by themselves. They claim that  the mall is the perfect place for teens to stay on weekends afternoons rather than stay bored at home . That may be possible in some cases. However, there are other places they can go. They can go bowling or watching  movies. Another good option is to practice sports on weekends. By doing this they will spend their weekends save and active.

            In facts, there are too many other activities for teens to do on weekends than going to the mall. Sometimes going to the mall without supervision can become a big problem. Not only for them, but also for their parents. Fights are one of the biggest problem that teens can have being in the mall hanging out with their friends. They can also disturb other shoppers’ tranquility. Placing restrictions on teeneged shoppers is a very good idea and should be implemented in other malls.

            Six months ago I started working for Gap.inc at Willowbrook mall. I am so happy of being part of this big team and I don’t regret working for this storeat all. Sometimes I work around  30 hours per week. This sometimes becomes a little bit difficult for me because I also study as a part time student. I am taking three courses at PCCC, Writing 107, math 006, and BU101. I can’t tell which one is easier because all of them need time and dedication.

            As everybody knows, studying math, business and writing requires a lot of time. Sometimes I need to use my break times to do my homework which must of the time are a lot. Working and studying at the same time is not easy and I know that must of you guys know that. The trust is that sometimes I kind of like this because I feel more responsible and more like an adult person which make me feel proud of myself.

            I feel very happy because I am working and I am studying. These are two things that a lot of people would like to do. That is life! And we have to accepted as it is.

            I was born in a very hot country. The Dominican Republic is known because of its beautiful beaches and its climate. The weather is very comfortable there. It is summer all the time! Isn’t that nice? I grew up wearing dresses, shorts, flip flops and tank tops. I use to go to the beach at least twice a month. I use to walk every afternoon around my house and practice sport with my neighboors.

            Since I move to this country, everything became very different. Summer is only  four months and it is a very hot summer. Winter is almost the whole year. Wearing suits and coats is very uncomfortable for me. I don’t really know what to wear during the winter. Also walking is very difficult because the winter is really cold. Sometimes I feel like freezing so it is difficult for me to go outside. During the winter I usually think three or four times before going out.  

            I can’t wait for the summer. I am anxious to enjoy those four summer months, start walking again and eat that delicious meat that my father use to cook in the grill. What do you think? Aren’t you crazy to enjoy this summer? Aren’t you tired to use those heavy coats?

Ana’s relationship

                 My cousin Ana came to this country a year ago. She was very sad because she had left all her family in my country, the Dominican Republic. She came to live with my mother, my sister and me. That was the dream we all had before coming to this country. One day we went shopping at Willowbrook mall. While we were shopping that day, one of the guys working in the mall fell in love with my cousin Ana instantly. He was Jewish and you know that is a very different religion. My cousin is catholic as same as my family does.

                My cousin liked him so much, but we didn’t think that it was going to work. In my personal experience I had never saw a Jewish person with a Dominican one. It looked very weird for me. He was so nice with her. He visited our house and everything was going very well. They became girlfriend and boyfriend three months after they met.

                They are now a  very happy couple and have a very interesting relationship. They moved to Miami and bought and apartment and are planning their wedding my cousin always dreamed with. As in almost every relationship not everything is emotion and good moments. Ana and her boyfriend are very sad because her boyfriend’s family don’t accept this wedding because of the religious differences. However, Ana’s family is always going to support her in everything she decides to do. That’s why we are going to help them to celebrate their wedding and I am sure that it is going to be what she is thinking it will be.
